In for a supernatural ride to the corridors of a hospice where sets the Midnight Club where all the ghosts from the past (literally) lurk around?
”Dying Is A Very Shitty Reason Not To Live.” - Ilonka, The Midnight Club
An adaption of a young adult novel written by Christopher Pike and another one of the fine works of Mike Flanagan, the creator of Haunting of the Hill House, 'The Midnight Club' is set at a hospice, where a group of eight young patients decide to hold meetings in the library only at midnight, telling and making up frightening stories, laughing and vowing to each other that ‘If they die tomorrow, they will try everything in their power to contact the club from the other side.’
With a scary contract like that, these kids aren’t afraid to go on and meet in the library late at night everyday until weird sightings start to happen, taking you back to 1994 with the history that this place and this hospice carries with it.
Here’s an interesting quote from the series that might pique your interest.
( seen chanted by these young adults at the table as they gather each night, holding up their glasses of wine ready to start with the night’s meeting)
”To those before, and to those after. To us now. And to those beyond. Seen or Unseen. Here but Not Here.”
The show has been fabricated perfectly with all it’s episodes having their own whole stories to tell. Definitely an emotional ride, these stories will indulge you into their magical, witchy, scary world, JUST ready for you to dive into.
Each of the stories being some of Christopher Pike’s best works including, The Witch (1999) about a girl with witchy powers who sees visions about the future and Gimme a Kiss (1988), about a bullied student who decides on a revenge on his bullies which goes wrong (completely).
With ten episodes to go, this series is a perfect show for you to binge watch right now. Do not miss out! It’s an underrated show but it deserves it all.
